Paleoscolex sp. is a rare worm from the Late Cambrian Fulu biota, Middle Longha Formation, near Fulu Village, southeastern Yunnan, South China.
Palaeoscolecids are a group of extinct worms that resemble priapulids (A phylum of unsegmented marine worms). They are characterized by having a ring-like trunk ornamented with circular patterns of phosphatic plates with no spaces in between. They have a layered cuticle. and an armoured proboscis.
This specimen is loosely coiled and would be close to 4 cm if measured as a straight line. It has a well preserved trunk, the circular patterns being clearly visible. A rare acquisition.
